Pyrex Pie Plates Attract Many Shoppers
Pyrex pie plates are made of very strong glass that can withstand very hot temperatures. They are made of special soda lime glass and despite being incredibly hot when they come out of the oven do not shatter. Pyrex is used for many items in the kitchen if they will go in the oven but pie plates have a number of attributes not found with other pastry plates.
Pyrex glassware was patented in 1915 and it is thought that 80% of families in the United States own at least one piece. They can stand extremes of heat and temperature but it is best not to put a boiling hot plate intro cold water or into the freezer. I f the pie that is made is meant to be frozen let it cool down first.
While it does have, many good points appearance is not one of the major selling points. Pyrex pie plates are not the most attractive pieces of tableware you will buy and while they will always be classed as functional, attractive is not a word that will spring to many minds. It is possible to buy some delicate or ornate plates and these will look good if you take them to the table at a dinner party.
A Pyrex plate will not fall into this category. One big advantage is the fact that you can see the pie through the glass. If the pastry looks like it is starting to burn, the gas can be turned down, or if it not cooked enough the pie can be left in the oven a little bit longer. There is also the fact that the plate is easy to clean and does not absorb smells. Just because you make a fish pie one week it does not mean that your cherry pie will have a smell of fish about it.
The fact that the Pyrex plate has handles is a big advantage. There are no problems taking it out of the oven or through to the table – if you don't mind your guests seeing it. It will keep the pie hot for quite some time so make sure that you check it carefully before just picking it up a little later on. There is no problem with using this product every day as it is strong and durable, and if by some change you do damage it, they can be bought at a variety of stores and are not particularly expensive to replace.
It is possible to get a 9" plate for around $6. pyrex pie plates are made in the United States and carry a two-year warranty. The manufacturers are confident that you will be happy with your purchase. They are not expensive to buy and are available in shops up and down the country. In their 100 year history they have sold well and it looks like they will continue to do so. Once you have made a pie in a Pyrex dish you will be happy to keep on using one.

Stretch. The wood is pine with a laquer finish. The mark is a faint white-ish cloudy colour with no indentation visible. Perhaps if I were just to keep polishing regularly the mark would fade even more? It's not so noticeable but I know it's there which is worse.Thanks for all your help.
Perhaps if you could add additional details to better describe the damage, I may be able to provide a better response. However, heat damage sometimes appear similar to water damage. The film becomes cloud and off-white in color. Heat may also cause an indentation in the finish. Heat damage is usually impossible to repair without stripping and refinishing. It might be possible for you to apply alcohol to a shellac finish or lacquer thinner to a lacquer finish and correct the problem by redissolving the finish and letting it cure again. It's often worth a try, buit it probably won't work.
It's also sometimes possible to correct the color, but not the transparency, by replacing missing color. The technique is using better left to a professional, and if the unit is valuable, it may be worth hiring a professional to do the work. Again, without a detailed description of the damge, it's hard to pinpoint the best course of action.
