Why to Install Bathroom Exhaust Fans
When it comes time to sell a home, bathrooms are one of the most important aspects that potential buyers will look at. As the owner of Marroquin Construction and an expert in the field of handyman services in San Diego, Robin Marroquin says it is important that homeowners do all that they can to improve not only the look, but the functionality of their bathrooms.
These days, homeowners in the Southern California area are increasingly discovering the benefits of adding or updating their bathroom exhaust fans. If your current bathroom has an ineffective fan, or if it doesn't have one at all, this added feature is well worth the cost.
Increase the Air Circulation
Around the country, and in Southern California especially, large families are struggling to find ways to improve the quality of their bathrooms. One of the best ways to improve the functionality of a bathroom is to increase the air circulation within it. Opening up a window can let fresh air in, but it won't actually help get any of the stale air out. Just opening a tiny bathroom window is not going to be enough to really increase the circulation of air in a bathroom. That is what an exhaust fan is for.
Control the Odors
A number of homes in Southern California were built in the 1950s with three bedrooms and one bathroom. That means that many families today are struggling to find effective ways to go about sharing one bathroom in a house. Imagine a large family that is all trying to use one bathroom. As you would probably guess, it can get pretty funky in there. Installing an exhaust fan can be a simple way to get the odors out without having use expensive sprays that only cover up the problem.
Lessen Noise
The main reason to get a highly efficient bathroom exhaust fan, as opposed to the ineffective fans that come standard in most homes, is what we call the "noise factor." Higher quality fans can produce more air without putting out as much noise. That is a sign of a better quality fan. In crowded homes with multiple people, lessening the amount of ambient noise in the air is something that everyone is striving for.
Avoid High Moisture Content
In homes across the country, but especially those located near the beach, a high moisture content in the air can spell disaster because it can lead to mold. In homes around the coastal areas, we frequently see this problem with little black dots forming around the bathroom walls and ceilings, and especially above the bathtub. What some people don't realize is that those black dots are mold, and that the problem is being caused by having too high of a moisture content in the bathroom. This can create serious problems for a homeowner if it is not treated quickly enough.
However, the best way to get moisture and steam out of the air in a hurry is to install an exhaust fan. With the fans installed, you can actually see the steam from the bath or the shower going right up and away. So you can visually see how well the moisture control aspect is working, which is pretty neat.
Choose the Right Exhaust Fans
At Marroquin Construction, the fans we install are superior to those sold at home improvement stores, which is one of the main reasons why clients call my company rather than trying to buy these fans and install them themselves. The fans we use are about 250 CFM (cubic feet per minute), and that is the number used to measure the airflow of any fan. Meanwhile, the biggest fans they sell at Home Depot are only 100 CFM.
The exhaust fans we use most frequently are part of a particular product line made in Germany called Fantech. They are not cheap, but very quiet and can move a lot of air. The Fantech exhaust fans can be put into "pretty much any bathroom," whether it has windows or not. Basically, we just need to be able to run power to it. Even without a dedicated power source in the bathroom, though, my company can run the electricity through the ceiling and install a switch for the fan in most cases.
The Fantech exhaust fans don't come cheap although they are useful. Usually, having a Fantech exhaust fan installed starts at $600 or $700, but can rise to nearly $1,000 if a lot of wiring ends up being involved in the job. We know that seems steep, but these fans move a lot of air and moisture, and that is going to make your bathroom a much better place.

Bathroom Exhaust fan is not working?
I tried to clean the exhaust fan with a vaccume, and suddenly it stopped working. Now when I start the fan it starts & then it stops. Mottor is running but fan is not.
Pretty sure you broke it. either take it down and try to see what you broke or get a new one.
